What is Toastmasters? Toastmasters is an international non-profit where local, career-focused people join together to work on their speaking skills in front of an audience.

What do we do in our meetings? Approximately 8 to 15 beginning- and intermediate-level speakers meet every week to practice our speaking skills. We practice:

  • Speaking in front of a crowd
  • Taking on leadership roles (such as leading a meeting)
  • Keeping cool when put on the spot, such as in a job interview

Who? Everyone is welcome to come to our meetings – there are no restrictions on membership, except that you have to be 18 or over. New visitors usually join us for about 1 to 3 meetings (free) before they decide if they want to join.

What does it cost? Since Toastmasters is a non-profit organization and the City of La Palma  Library lends us meeting space free, this club is a low-cost option for those looking to brush up on their career and communication skills. Toastmasters club members pay  $51 ($45 for TI and $6 for LPTM) paid semi-annually on October 1 and April 1. All new members also pay the one-time US $20 fee for instructional material. If you cannot make our meeting times, there are approximately 70 other clubs within a 10-mile radius of our location. They can be found at https://www.toastmasters.org/Find-a-Club

Where is the City of La Palma? La Palma is a small city, approximately 1.8 square miles in size. It is surrounded by the cities of Cerritos, Cypress, and Buena Park, and many of our members come from these and other cities in Orange County, California.
